Position summary and scope

This position provides non-clinical, hands‑on assistance to elderly clients, convalescents, and persons with disabilities to support activities of daily living (ADLs), household needs, and social/psychosocial well‑being in residential or non‑residential care settings. The role operates under direction of family members and supervising clinical or care staff and does not perform licensed medical assessments or regulated clinical treatments.

Accountabilities include ensuring client comfort and safety, following established care routines, observing and reporting changes in client condition or environment, maintaining client dignity and privacy, and collaborating with internal teams to support care plan objectives.

Key skills, abilities and knowledge required

Basic qualifications: CNA certification or equivalent where required by jurisdiction; completion of required background checks and immunizations per organizational policy.
Clinical-adjacent skills and knowledge: competency in assisting with ADLs, safe transfer and mobility assistance (including use of mechanical lifts when trained), basic feeding assistance, and understanding of common neurorehabilitation considerations (e.g., fall risk, cognition changes).
Observation and documentation: ability to observe, accurately record and escalate changes in condition using established documentation systems and formats within specified timeframes.
